Our after-school program extends this mission of excellence and inclusion, providing enriching activities that complement our music-centered approach to education. WHIN is currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable After-School Program Coordinator who is ready to help grow our unique school community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity drive each and every day.
The After-School Program Coordinator is responsible for:
Program Operations
- Coordinating and supporting day-to-day after-school programs and activities
- Planning and organizing school and community events as needed
- Setting up and cleaning up activity spaces before and after each session
- Maintaining an inventory of program supplies and equipment
- Managing early pick-ups from programming
- Attending and participating in all after-school celebrations, events and community building workshops
Staff Management & Leadership
- Assisting with the supervision and training of after-school staff
- Acting as a role model to children and team members, and demonstrating leadership
- Participating in staff meetings and professional development as required
Safety & Compliance
- Ensuring the safety and security of each participant by supervising all students during program activities
- Ensuring programs operate in compliance with all applicable organizational protocols and procedures
- Following all safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Implementing positive behavior management strategies consistent with school policies
Administrative & Communication
- Maintaining accurate attendance records and program documentation
- Communicating regularly with the Director of After-School regarding student and program progress
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with school staff, parents, and administration
- Following all program policies and procedures
- Assisting with overall record-keeping and documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent experience in an educational or youth-focused setting
- Two (2) or more years of experience working with school-aged children in an after-school or similar environment in an elementary or middle school setting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to WHIN's mission of fostering academic excellence through music and arts integration
- An unwavering belief that all students can achieve at a high level
- Proven commitment and success working with students and families
- The ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, and exciting school environment
- A sense of humor and kindness towards colleagues
- Strong creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic settings
- Proficiency in Google Workspace applications and other digital tools for scheduling and document management
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children
- Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting requirements
- A positive attitude, sense of humor, and collaborative spirit with colleagues
Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:
- Bilingual capabilities (especially Spanish)
- Experience with diverse student populations
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Teaching experience and/or certifications
- Experience with classroom management and positive discipline techniques
- Familiarity with program budgeting and fiscal management
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
Compensation and Benefits:
WHIN Music Community Charter School offers a competitive salary, a fun and professional working environment, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Position Type: Hourly ($35 per hour)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1-7pm
