WHIN is currently seeking a Visual Arts teacher who is ready to help grow a unique school community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity drive each and every day. 

 

Specifically, the teacher is responsible for:

  • Design and implement an engaging robotics curriculum that aligns with STEM standards and supports WHIN’s educational mission.
  • Teach fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, engineering, and technology to students.
  • Utilize hands-on learning experiences with robotics kits
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment where students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Guide students through robotics projects, competitions, and challenges that encourage creativity and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate robotics and STEM concepts across subjects.
  • Maintain and manage robotics equipment, ensuring resources are readily available and in good working condition.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in robotics education and incorporate new tools and teaching strategies into the curriculum.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues about student progress and program initiatives.
 

Qualifications for the teacher are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • NYS teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification).
  • Experience teaching robotics, computer science, or STEM-related subjects in an elementary or middle school setting.
  • Proficiency with robotics platforms  and strong knowledge of coding languages such as Python, Scratch, or C++.
  • Passion for hands-on, project-based learning and student-centered instruction.
  • Excellent classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to WHIN’s mission of fostering academic excellence through music and arts integration

 Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Teaching experience and/or certifications
  • Project Based Learning and Inquiry Based Learning
  • Responsive Classroom, Love & Logic Student Management, and Restorative Justice models
